Remembering Former PKD Foundation Board of Trustees Member

Robert BennetIt is with great sadness that we share the news about the death of former PKD Foundation Board of Trustees member, Sen. Robert F. Bennett. Sen. Bennett, former Utah Senator who served in the U.S. Senate for 18 years, passed away last Wednesday at the age of 82 from complications of pancreatic cancer and a recent stroke. He served as a PKD Foundation Trustee from July 1, 2011 to Jan. 15, 2015, and assisted with PKD advocacy efforts. "Sen. Bennett was a strong voice for PKD-related issues on Capitol Hill, and provided invaluable advocacy counsel as we worked to impact legislation. He was a key member of our Board of Trustees and a dedicated Foundation supporter, and we appreciate all he did. Sen. Bennett will be missed." Foundation CEO Jackie Hancock, Jr., said. Our thoughts go out to Sen. Bennett’s family.

PKD Foundation awards 15 grants to advance research

In January, 2016, our Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) reviewed 51 grant applications, and selected 15 outstanding grant proposals to receive a total of $2.4 million over the next two years. This investment will propel critical research to broaden our understanding of the genetic and pathological processes involved in PKD and accelerate the development of potential therapies for PKD patients.
