Genetic Discrimination Scores
National Headlines, Radio Tour

Just days before the PKD Foundation launched a national radio media tour in support of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimation Act (GINA), two national publications also took up the hot issue.

On Feb. 24, The New York Times published a front page story on genetic discrimination. The piece touches upon the need for GINA. In addition, the national science journal Nature recently published an editorial about GINA and the need for the U.S. Senate to pass this legislation.

On Feb. 28, PKD Foundation President and CEO Dan Larson and PKD patient and mother Karen Ungerman of South Ogden, Utah, gave several interviews on radio stations across the country. They discussed PKD and the impact of genetic discrimination on the lives of PKD patients and families, reaching more than 4 million listeners.
