Promote PKD During National Kidney Month

 

 

 
Every March, PKD families from around the world come together to celebrate National Kidney Month and World Kidney Day (March 8). Now, you and your family can take part in this exciting opportunity to raise awareness of PKD and the need for additional research funding!

March will also be busy for PKD Foundation staff and volunteers who plan to raise awareness of PKD in the following ways:

 

In 65 Cities Across the Country:

-
PKD Foundation Chapter members will blanket their communities with PKD posters
- PKD Foundation Chapters will hold a meeting, educational seminar or event to promote PKD 

 

In 20 "Media Target Cities" Across the Country:

- Internet ads will run on popular websites to coincide with National Kidney Month
- PKD bracelets were sent to TV meteorologists. They’ve been asked to wear these during newscasts and mention PKD and National Kidney Month as often as possible.
- Cookie Bouquets featuring the PKD Foundation logo and World Kidney Day logo will be delivered to TV morning newscasts on March 8 (World Kidney Day) along with information on PKD. They’re asked to show these cookies on-air and share the PKD Foundation website for more information.
- PKD Foundation President & CEO Dan Larson will visit target cities throughout the year to help raise public awareness of PKD in these communities. His schedule for March includes: 

       March 8: Las Vegas
       March 10: Salt Lake City
       March 12: Phoenix
       March 23 & 24: Atlanta
       March 29 & 30: Washington, DC

- The PKD Foundation was featured in a Radio Media Tour March 6 in cities across the country. PKD patient and Tulsa Chapter Coordinator Terri Carrington shared her personal experience with radio listeners. Dr. Ronald Perrone, PKD Foundation Scientific Advisory Committee Chair, joined Terri for these interviews to answer medical questions about PKD, the impact on patients and current PKD research. Here's a list of radio stations that participated in the tour and when the interviews will air:
