2008 Nashville Walk for PKD
The Nashville Chapter is celebrating its second annual Walk for PKD! We are still totaling the money that we raised ($30,000).
Our next fundraiser will be a Holiday Gift Wrap at Borders. Plan to volunteer your help at a gift wrap table for a 2 hour slot. It is a wonderful way to expand awareness of PKD in our community and raise money for a cure.
Connect with other PKD patients and families in your area.
Our Chapter meetings will be held on the fourth Thursday of selected months (with the exception of Nov. - Jan.). Our meetings are at the Cool Springs YMCA Meeting Room at 7:00 p.m.
2008 National Convention Update:
Two Nashville PKD Chapter volunteers, Carol Boeing and Dawn Barbee, attended the 2008 National Convention on PKD in Dallas, TX, on June 20-22. It was an exceptional time of learning more about PKD and ways to help control PKD such as nutrition, exercise, and healthy habits. Carol and Dawn heard doctors speak who are PKD experts from the leading hospitals. Each session was followed by an informative Q&A session. They also heard reports from research doctors who are leading the field of research for finding a cure for PKD. Perhaps, best of all, Carol and Dawn met PKD families from all parts of the world. Next year, there will be 2 National Conventions on PKD. One will be in Chicago, IL and the other will be in San Diego, CA. Make plans now to attend. Everyone with PKD should go to learn and to be inspired! Check back for 2009 National Convention on PKD updates!

Plan your own Event!
All of the events that take place in the Nashville PKD Foundation Chapter, large or small, only happen because someone decided to organize them. We are always receiving checks for $50 to $500 from people who have put together a craft fair, bake sale, gotten their business to sponsor a casual day or any of a dozen other things.
There are also people who have decided they have the time and energy to put on a major event or who are connected to church or school group who help them put on a major event. Many other charities are starting to connect with sororities, fraternities, or other social organizations to put on an annual event and you can too!
If you have an idea for an event that you would like to put together, or if you have a business, church or community group that may like to get involved, please contact us at nashvillechapter@pkdcure.org and we'll help you get the ball rolling.
Make a difference in the lives of 12.5 million people.
Our Chapter is run entirely by volunteers. Many of these people have full-time jobs and/or live with health complications so we can always use your help and support. Tasks vary from large to small and include everything from helping with mailings, to offering support to others, to serving on a committee for fundraising efforts.
If you have any time to donate to raising funds and awareness for PKD research, plese contact the Chapter Coordinator at the top of the page.
And many thanks to all of those who volunteer their time, talent and treasure in the fight to one day find a cure!
