There are jobs for everyone, big and small. Just contact us at delawarechapter@pkdcure.org to find out how you can make a difference in the lives of 12.5 million people!

Chapter News

PKD Foundation is happy to welcome Monalee West as our new Delaware Chapter Coordinator!

To All PKD Volunteers and Delaware Chapter Members;

My name is Monalee West and I am excited to be part of the Delaware Chapter PKD Foundation as the new Chapter Coordinator. I have 30 plus years in the healthcare field, over 25 years as a substance abuse and mental health counselor. I have Federal and State grant writing experience, and I have worked with numerous non-profit organizations such as the Tidewater AIDS Taskforce, MS, and United Way conducting fundraisers and organizing educational and specialty events. I look forward to being able to use my skills to assist the PKD Foundation with future projects and events.

My family and I have personally been affected by PKD. We recently had a grandson born with the most aggressive form of ARPKD. His name was Bowen Gillis and his story is on caringbridge.org. We said goodbye to Bowen on April 25, 2011, in Phoenix Arizona. Since then we have been doing our best to support the education of PKD to parents, the community, and healthcare professionals. I am so excited to be able to be a part of such a wonderful cause, and look forward to meeting and working with each and every one of you!

Yours truly,
Monalee West

Chapter Meetings

January 28, 2012

10:30 am

31 Hillside Road, Claymont, DE 19703

PLEASE RSVP to Monalee at (302)- 290-2593 or delawarechapter@pkdcure.org

For the January meeting we will have door prizes for:

a) Individuals who bring the most volunteers to the meeting;
b) Individuals who bring the most new volunteers to the meeting;
c) The individual who has the longest standing volunteer record with the DE Chapter of PKD; and,
d) Other categories

We are also hosting a PollyAna event.  We are asking volunteers and Coordinators to purchase an item from a Dollar Tree store for $1.00, and then wrap, bag, or box the item so no one can tell what it is.  The item can be practical, impractical, crazy, an ornament, or anything you want it to be.  Rules and guidelines will be provided at the meeting.  This is always a fun event to kick start a brainstorming session.  Refreshments will be provided

We already have several fundraising ideas to discuss, as well as, a new program concept. So bring your ideas, appetites, and thinking caps as we are ready to get the DE Chapter of PKD off and running for 2012!
