AUSTIN CHAPTER - Providing Hope and Support

With the help of PKD Foundation Chapters in cities across the country and beyond, the PKD Foundation provides a forum for patients who want to join in the fight to raise find a treatment and cure for PKD.

All of our chapter meetings are held at Seton Northwest Hospital in the 3rd floor conference room from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Here is are the meetings we have scheduled for 2009:

       

Jan. 24

Regular meeting with an awards ceremony to recognize those outstanding volunteers of 2008 followed by a presentation at 2:00 p.m. by Marily Rodriguez a licensed renal social worker. Our topic will be "A Talk for PKD Patients, Family Members and Caretakers on Transitioning to Dialysis and Being on Dialysis."

March 7

Regular meeting with licensed Renal Dietitian, Myran Trevino to speak on "Dietary Concerns of the PKD Patient."

Nov. 7

Regular meeting followed by a presentation by nephrologist and inventor of the Periteneal Dialysis System, Dr. Jack Moncrief. His presentation will focus on "Your PKD Kidneys and Dialysis."

National Convention on PKD - Summer 2009

The National Convention on PKD is the only opportunity, worldwide, for PKD patients, their families and and medical professionals to learn about PKD and connect with others in the PKD community.

In 2009, the convention will be held in two locations: 
Chicago, IL and San Diego, CA

Healthy Eating Webinar
The PKD Foundation will host its second webinar Tuesday, January 6 at 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. CST. This free webinar “Healthy Eating” is open to everyone and includes information for everyone who is trying to maintain kidney health through their diet.  The presentation will be conducted by Renal Dietitian, PKD patient, wife and mother, Kelly Welsh.  A question and answer period is also included.  

 

This is the second in a series of quarterly webinars designed to provide education and information about various medical and lifestyle issues related to polycystic kidney disease.  To register, please click here.
