KANSAS CITY NON-PROFIT RECEIVES $5,000 GIFT FROM ROYALS CHARITIES AND GLASS FAMILY
Dan & Penny Glass recognize PKD Foundation with year- end contribution.
(Kansas City) December 20, 2006 — The PKD Foundation is pleased to accept a $5,000 gift from Dan & Penny Glass on behalf of the Royals Charities.
PKD is the most common life-threatening genetic disease, affecting 12.5 million people worldwide. PKD causes cysts to form on the kidneys, limiting their ability to filter toxins from the blood. Dialysis and transplantation are the only treatments for kidney failure. There is no cure for PKD.
“When people suffer from a chronic, life-threatening genetic disease like polycystic kidney disease, help and hope is what they need,” said PKD Foundation President and CEO, Dan Larson. “The Kansas City Royals’ generosity will help provide both, especially at years’ end when we determine how many therapy-focused PKD research projects we can fund next year."
The PKD Foundation, headquartered in Kansas City, MO, leads the fight against polycystic kidney disease (PKD) through research funding and patient education. For more information, visit www.pkdcure.org or call 1-800-PKD-CURE.
