Janea Roberts, Regional Development Director
Janea Roberts joined the PKD Foundation February 2015. Janea is a highly motivated, senior level fundraiser with 8 years of active involvement in the nonprofit sector. Janea offers a well-balanced skill set in the field of resource development, including individual and corporate prospect research and solicitation, management and execution of special events, and grant-writing, however, Janea is best known for her skill at building solid relationships with donors, clients, prospects and collaborators. Her experience in leading successful fundraising efforts includes work for organizations of all sizes, including Boys & Girls Clubs of Brookings, Angel Flight Central, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City, and Powell Gardens.
Actively involved in community organizations, Janea has served on the board of the Bacchus Foundation, as a member of the First Hand Foundation's Court Board, and on the resource development committee for MINDRIVE.
Janea holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media, with an emphasis in Public Relations, from Washburn University.

Pat Smithson, Regional Development Director
Pat Smithson joined the PKD Foundation September 2012 as Regional Development Director. In support of the mission of the PKD Foundation her role is to help facilitate those who want to financially support the treatment and cure of PKD through their individual, private foundation and planned gifts.
Pat has a long history of work in the nonprofit and association sectors. She has served as a social worker with chronically mentally ill adults, engaged in development and chapter relations work with the Missouri Easter Seals Society, Research Mental Health Services, the National Kidney Foundation and ARMA International. Pat has 14 years of business development experience, developing local, national and international multi-faceted relationships including working for an IT consulting firm and owning a commercial printing company. Pat believes that relationships are formed one at a time and only through meeting the donors' interests in supporting the PKD Foundation. Aligning programming needs and funders is a goal Pat is enthusiastic to tackle for the Foundation.
Pat holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education from University of Missouri – Kansas City and a Master's degree in Management from Webster University.
