Fiday, June 18 – Corner Brook Chapter Bake Sale
9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The PKD Foundation of Canada – Corner Brook Chapter will be selling a wonderful variety of baked goods at the Western Memorial Hospital on Friday, June 18th from 930 a.m. to 130 p.m. All proceeds raised will directly support programs of research, advocacy, awareness and support for those afflicted with Polycystic Kidney Disease.
There will also be raffle tickets on sale for your chance to win a handcrafted single-sized Newfoundland Quilt, made by Chapter Coordinator, Nina Young. Tickets are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00! The winner will be selected on August 31, so be sure to get your tickets before then!
If you are in the area, do stop by and pick up something tasty for yourself, your friends or family; all while supporting the PKD Foundation of Canada and our mission that no one suffers the full effects of PKD!

Join us as we enjoy an informative webinar presented by Dr. Robert Montgomery (Chief, Division of Transplantation; Director, Incompatible Kidney Transplantation Program; Director, The Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Transplant Center), in which he covers the ins and outs of kidney transplantation. Dr. Montgomery recently made worldwide headlines when on Valentine’s Day 2009, his team at Johns Hopkins University performed the first 12-person / 3-city kidney swap! 6th Annual Vankleek Hill Walk for PKD

Topic: Genetics and PKD
The Toronto Chapter is honoured to have Dr. David Chitayat, MD, from Mount Sinai and Sick Kids Hospital, join our group to discuss the topic of genetics related to PKD. Dr. Chitayat is a Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics, Molecular and Medical Genetics, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, and is a fellow of the American Board of Medical Genetics, The Canadian College of Medical Genetics, The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American College of Medical Genetics.
Some of his current posts include, Medical Director of The MSc Program in Genetic Counselling, University of Toronto; Head, The Prenatal Diagnosis and Medical Genetics Program, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Mount Sinai Hospital and Staff, Division of Clinical and Metabolic Genetics, Department of Pediatrics; University of Toronto.
