The Atlanta Walk for PKD may be over…
But the fight to stop PKD continues! We wanted to take a moment to celebrate the successes of your fundraising, and let you know of a new competition--
-
Discovery of the PKD1and PKD2 genes and their polcystin 1 and 2 proteins, as well as the PKHD1 gene.
-
Identification of important disease mechanisms and drug targets showing promise as treatments for PKD.
-
Identification of compounds and pathways involved in cyst formation and enlargement.
-
Funding in partnership with the U.S Food and Drug Administration and pharmaceutical companies to determine regulatory endpoints for clinical trials.
-
Clinical trials underway to test potential therapies for ADPKD.
Thank you for all of your hard work fundraising over the previous weeks. Your dedication to the fight against PKD is evident!
The Walk for PKD is all about each of us doing a little to add up to a lot. Send just one more email to your friends and family, make one more ask, give one more gift … just a small amount from everyone will help us reach our $80,000 goal, as well as our $3 million Walk for PKD goal.
CONGRATULATIONS to Julian Roberts, who raised over $1000 in the two weeks following the walk to win the Family Four Pack of Atlanta Art and History! Included in this package is a Family Pass to the Atlanta History Center, Four (4) passes to the High Museum of Art, Four (4) passes to ZooAtlanta, and Four (4) tickets to the Atlanta Ballet’s production of the Nutcracker!*
Don’t forget your fundraising efforts can also earn you great prizes. Visit www.pkdrewards.org to claim your prizes on the second Monday after your event.
Without dedicated and passionate fundraisers, PKD Foundation programs of research, advocacy, education, support and awareness wouldn’t be possible. Thanks again!
*Tickets for Nutcracker are good from December 1 - Dec. 26.

Each Year the PKD Foundation Recognizes Supporters
Visionary Awards
We are proud to honor those who go above and beyond in their efforts to fight PKD. Visionaries are exceptional fundraisers who raise $6,000 or more for PKD research and patient education – in effect, donating one penny for each of the 600,000 Americans living with PKD. This group includes your very own Julian Roberts!
There are different levels of Visionary Awards based on the total amount of money raised. Click here to learn more and get started on fundraising!
Congratulations to Jerome Lienhard for achieving Visionary Status for the first time!
Congratulations to Julian Roberts for achieving Visionary Status again in 2010! Julian has been a Visionary since the program was started 5 years ago!
TeamFirst Awards
TeamFirst Captains are those motivated individuals who encourage and support their teammates in their fundraising efforts. A little healthy competition goes a long way when a team captain and at least three other team members collectively raise $10,000 or more! This group includes your very own Gage and Quinn's Team!
The more fundraising dollars your team raises, the higher the level of recognition you’ll receive. Curing PKD is a team effort! Click here to learn more and get started on fundraising!
Congratulations to Gage and Quinnlin's Team for achieving TeamFirst status again in 2010!
