Application Requirements
1. Applicant is not eligible for this award if he/she has current funding from the PKD Foundation.
2. Applicant must have submitted a competitive renewal NIH RO1 application that was scored but not funded.
3. Applicant cannot have more than $100,000 of total extramural research funding (direct costs) as PI, co-PI or collaborating investigator with paid % effort.
4. Salary plus fringe for the Principal Investigator may not exceed $50,000. This amount in combination with other extramural funding may not exceed 100% of the total salary/fringe for MDs. There is no restriction for salaries for PhDs.
5. Funds cannot be used for equipment purchase and/or repair.
6. Any or all of the funds can be used for research supplies.
7. Funds cannot be used for travel or clinical or administrative time.
8. Indirect costs are limited to 10% of grant request, or $9,091.They are inclusive in the request amount (e.g., an award of $100,000 includes $9,091 indirect costs and $90,909 direct costs).
9. Institutional approval of animal and biohazard use protocols and human experimentation protocol must be provided before Foundation funding is released.
10. Applicant may receive only one PKD Foundation Bridge Grant Award in a five year period.
11. If a Bridge Grant awardee resubmits the original proposal to NIH and it is funded at a later date, any and all unused funds on hand at the time NIH funding begins must be returned to the PKD Foundation.
