2008 Bridge Grant Award
Introduction
The PKD Foundation endeavors to stimulate and support basic laboratory research that will lead to an increased understanding of the genetic and pathological processes involved in Polycystic Kidney Disease and will identify targets for therapeutic intervention that will slow or stop disease progression.
Purpose of Bridge Grant Request for Proposals
The current RFA has been developed to provide one-time bridge funding for one year for investigators whose NIH RO1 application was scored but not funded. The award will be in the amount of $100,000 for 1 year and will cover salaries and supplies related to the applicant’s research proposal. A maximum of 10% may be used to cover indirect costs. Applications are judged on NIH priority score and relevance to PKD Science. This award is not renewable.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicant must have submitted a competitive renewal RO1 application that was scored but not funded. PI cannot have more than $100,000 of total extramural research funding (direct costs) as a PI, co-PI, and/or as a collaborating investigator with paid % effort. Applicant must have an M.D. or Ph.D. or equivalent degree and hold a faculty appointment at the institution where the research will be conducted. Applicant will be considered ineligible if he/she has received a PKD Foundation Bridge Grant Award within five years of his/her current application.
