Become a Volunteer!
Kathy's volunteer work recently has involved collecting in-kind donations, recruiting volunteers for Walk day, locating supplies and helping with the set-up and take-down on Walk day.
"It is rewarding to meet more people with PKD and know that my efforts may help their children or grandchildren. Working on projects with my family and other volunteers was also fun, even when we were painting signs in 90 degree temperatures with high humidity."
Kathy encourages others to get involved, "Remember that you can volunteer at your comfort level, you can do a little or a lot. Even taking on one item from the to-do list is very helpful. Volunteering adds to your personal growth and gives you a great deal of satisfaction."
Kathy Frits started volunteering with the Iowa Chapter in March, 2007. Her original motivation to get involved with the Iowa Chapter was her grandson Andrew, now 2, as well as to support her daughter, Iowa Chapter Coordinator, Becky Decker.
