Barista Donates Kidney to Customer
A Starbucks barista has served a customer with much more than a morning cup of coffee -- she has given her the gift of life.
Until recently, Sandra Andersen, of Tacoma, WA, only knew Annamarie Ausnes as a regular customer. But when she learned that Ausnes' kidneys were failing because of PKD, she decided to be tested as a potential donor. She was a match and, on March 11, she donated a kidney to Ausnes. Both are recovering well after the transplant.
Andersen and Ausnes also appeared on The Today Show to tell their story. To read the full details of the story, and see video from the Today Show segment, check out MSNBC.com.
