We get it – fundraising sounds tough. But it doesn’t have to be!

You can reach your goal in just days, or just keep it simple and ask 20 friends for $20! Let’s start by taking it day-by-day:

  • Day 1: Start by putting in your own contribution of $50

  • Day 2: Ask four family members to sponsor you for $25 each

  • Day 3: Ask your employer to contribute $25 and ask about matching funds for employee contributions to your campaign

  • Day 4: Ask 5 friends to contribute $20 each

  • Day 5: Ask five co-workers to sponsor you for $10 each

  • Day 6: Ask five neighbors to contribute $10 each.

  • Day 7: Ask your dry cleaner, pharmacy, grocery, doctor and favorite restaurant (or five other businesses you frequent) for a $20 contribution

 That’s $500 in one week!

You can also just keep it simple and  use your 20/20 vision – ask 20 friends for $20. That’s $400 that will go a long way for PKD!  Remember the #1 reason people don’t give is they were not asked!

Here are some more fundraising tips to get you started:

  • Use your own giving to inspire others to give.  Offer to match their gift.

  • Use language like “join me in making a donation to the PKD Foundation," so they know you have some skin in the game.

  • Tell your story.  Enthusiasm is contagious!

  • Email, email, email! The key to online fundraising is being persistent (without getting on the nerves of your friends and family)

  • Don’t underestimate your community! Try to find people, foundations or corporations who already support PKD and ask them to donate.

  • Sell your stuff! Host a garage sale and ask your neighbors to donate items for sale.

  • Ask local business to donate gift certificates and host an auction at work.

  • Be a good host or hostess! Host a movie night, a wine-tasting, a book sale, a potluck, a car wash – you name it! – and collect donations at the door.

  • Ask local bakeries to donate desserts and have an bake sale at work.
