Here we go again...
By now, most of you know our story pretty well. PKD has affected three generations of my family, most recently my older son who was diagnosed two years ago. Since receiving that news, we as a family have raised over $20,000 toward finding a cure for this awful disease, and we're gearing up for another round.
PKD in brief:
- is one of the most common life-threatening genetic diseases
- affects 600,000 Americans
- is woefullly underfunded -- the NIH provides merely $60 per patient per year in dedicated research funds
- has no treatment or cure
The PKD Foundation uses over 80% of its operating budget in direct program costs, funding research directly, as well as providing critical support and education for patients. I am dedicating a large portion of my limited energies to trying to raise $5,000 for the foundation this year, and I hope you'll support my efforts. You have my undying gratitude.
