United on the Hill

United on the Hill is our annual legislative and public policy conference in Washington, DC. After participating in advocacy training, we spend a day on Capitol Hill meeting with our members of Congress, to both raise awareness for PKD and discuss our legislative priorities for the year. Please join us March 1 - 2, 2010 for the 3rd annual United on the Hill conference. Let's make our voices heard together.

PKD Champions, Your Advocacy Can Help Cure PKD!

Last year, more than 80 advocates from 22 states answered the call and traveled to Washington, DC to meet with their members of Congress. They became a strong voice for the more than 600,000 Americans with PKD.

Advocacy is vital to help advance research, lead to the discovery of new treatments, and a cure for PKD.  In 2009, federal funding for PKD research reached an all-time high of $42 million at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  This success is due to the efforts of PKD patients, families, and friends, who worked hard to raise awareness of PKD on Capitol Hill with their members of Congress.

Join us this year as we work towards these goals:

  • Increase federal funding for PKD research
  • Change FDA policy for approving promising treatments and therapies
  • Tackle the shortage of kidney donors
  • Address inadequate Medicare coverage of immunosuppressive drugs.
